  14.  
  15. This ZIP file contains the latest ATI Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display 
  16. driver. This driver should be used if you experience any difficulties 
  17. with the driver provided on the Microsoft Windows 95 CDROM or if you wish 
  18. to access the new features provided by this driver.

  23. 2.0     Installation Notes
  24.  
  25. 1. Ensure that you have a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE 2.04G.  PKUNZIP is available 
  26. on most BBS and information services, including the ATI BBS and 
  27. CompuServe.
  28.  
  29. 2. Start Windows 95. 
  30.  
  31. 3. Start a MS DOS prompt.
  32.  
  33. NOTE: If you have download the ATI PLAYER, the ATI Software MPEG player, 
  34. DO NOT UNZIP THE FILE to the directory containing the ATI Windows 95 
  35. display drives.  A new temporary directory must be created e.g. ATIMPEG.
  36.  
  37. 4. Unzip 64W95208.ZIP into a temporary directory on your hard disk.  For 
  38. example:
  39.  
  40. MD \ATIWIN95
  41. PKUNZIP 64W95208.ZIP \ATIWIN95
  42.  
  43. 5. Exit the MS DOS prompt, and return to the Windows 95 desktop.
  44.  
  45. The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is a Windows 95 mini driver.  
  46. It is installed and configured using the standard Windows 95 configuration 
  47. utilities.
  48.  
  49. 6. Click on the Start button. Click on the Run menu item. 
  50.  
  51. Type C:\ATIWIN95\SETUP.EXE in the text entry area. Press OK.
  52.

  54.  
  55. Go to the "Settings" page in the Display Properties sheet and
  56. press the "Change Display Type" button.  Select Change from the 
  57. Adapter Type then click on the "Have Disk" button.  
  58.  
  59. ->> When prompted for the disk location, enter the location of   <<- 
  60. ->> unzipped mach64 2.08 drivers e.g. C:\ATIWIN95.               <<-

  62. 7. Follow the instructions displayed in the help.  
  63.  
  64. ->> Where the instructions refer to A:\, replace it with the     <<-
  65. ->> directory containing the downloaded drivers e.g. C:\ATIWIN95.<<-

  67. NOTE: If you have not already configured your monitor type do so now. 
  68. In the PROPERTIES - SETTINGS PAGE - CHANGE DISPLAY TYPE -
  69. Monitor Type area, click the Change... button and select the appropriate 
  70. monitor.  Click OK to apply your changes.

  72. Click Close to return to the Settings page. Click "Close" or "Apply" 
  73. to initiate your changes.

  75. 8. Restart the computer to run Windows 95 using this new driver. 
  76.  
  77. 9. Once the driver has been installed, you can delete the contents of the 
  78. temporary directory (DEL \ATIWIN95\*.*) and delete the directory itself 
  79. (RD \ATIWIN95).

  81. 10. We recommend that you keep a copy of the ZIP file, 64W95208.ZIP, in 
  82. case you need to install the driver again.

  86. 3.0     Changing Color Depth, Resolution and/or Font Sizes 
  87.  
  88. When Windows 95 is up, you may configure your color depth, resolution 
  89. and/or font size in the Display Properties sheet as follows.  
  90.  
  91. 1. Click the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop and select 
  92. Properties.   
  93.  
  94. 2. On the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet, choose your 
  95. preferred color support, resolutions for desktop / screen and font size. 
  96. Click "OK" or "Apply" to initiate your changes. 
  97.  
  98. 3. On the Adjustment Page of the Display Properties sheet, you may further 
  99. customize your display.

  101. Note that these values reflect the monitor configuration you performed  
  102. using the Settings page - Change Display Type - Monitor Type.  
  103.  
  104. 4. Click Apply or OK to switch to the new setting. 
  105.  
  106. Note: Windows 95 will require a re-start to implement certain display 
  107.       settings changes.

  111. 4.0     mach64 Enhanced Windows 95 Driver Features
  112.  
  113. The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver supports the following 
  114. additional features: 
  115.  
  116. - This release includes DirectDraw support as well as updated ATI MCI and 
  117.    ATI DCI drivers
  118.  
  119.  - MPEG playback support and ATI MPEG Video Player to view MPEG-1 videos
  120.    at 1x, 2x and full-screen on the desktop PC.
  121.  
  122.  - A Settings Page that allows for customization of desktop settings 
  123.    such as virtual desktop size, display resolution and color depth, 
  124.    ability to user-customize pre-set display preferences.
  125.  
  126.  - A Panning Page that allows the user to set up hotkeys to control panning
  127.    of the desktop within a virtual desktop.
  128.  
  129.  - A Screen Adjust Page for adjusting the size and position of screen
  130.    images along with manipulation of the display's refresh rate.
  131.  
  132.  - A Color Correction Page to allow the user to correct for color tone 
  133.    differences between real color values and the way the monitor displays 
  134.    them.  Control includes color spline, gamma correction and the ability 
  135.    for user-customized preset preferences.  Color Correction is fully
  136.    supported on GRAPHICS PRO TURBOs and WINTURBOs with high-end DACs.

  138.  - Setup Wizards, on-line documentation and context-sensitive help using 
  139.    the Windows 95 Help Wizards.

  141.  - Monitor Adjustment: Position and size adjustment of the Windows 95
  142.    desktop on the display monitor, refresh rate selection, ability to
  143.    use timing information specific to the monitor selected by the user 
  144.    (provides greater enhancement and clearer viewing) and the ability 
  145.    to select specific display refresh rates.

  147.  - Low Level Hardware Configuration: Ability to select the power-up 
  148.    video mode of the graphics adapter (the mode that the adapter will be
  149.    set to after the computer is powered-up or reset).  Color and Monochrome 
  150.    modes are supported.
